Conway Symphony Orchestra

 

History

The Conway symphony orchestra was founded in the 1980s by community music supporters, they held a debut concert in 1984. The symphony project was co-owned by the music departments for Hendrix college and UCA, its is now diverse and is composed of 1\3 of professional musicians and the remaining pre-professional from across the state.

The symphony has grown and has incorporated the Main stage pops concert in 2007 and 2008. From 2009 the Conway symphony orchestra has been offering an in-school classroom program and a seven-concert season. Scholarship students act as symphony musicians, its relationship with the university of central Arkansas has been formalized and Israel Getzov their music director holds a faculty position. Israel Getzov is a renowned music conductor/director who also advises the orchestra Fila Monica de Santa Cruiz de la Sierra.

The Conway symphony orchestra was created to provide professional musical performances of high quality and educational programs for the people of Arkansas. The orchestra enjoys the support of individual and corporate donors through fundraising events thus ensuring that the cost of tickets is maintained

The Conway symphony orchestra integrates both professional and pre-professional musicians who play a wide range of instruments. The musicians from CSO plays everything you need from a solo marimba performance to a woodwind duo or a string quartet performance.

What to look out for

The orchestra plays the violin, viola, cello, bass, flute and piccolo, oboe and English horn, clarinet, bassoon, horn, trumpet, trombone, bass trombone, timpani, percussion, keyboard, and the harp.

Ticket prices

Adult tickets go for $20-$30, for children $5, for students with student ID $5 and 10 dollars for UCA faculty staff, groups are charged $15. The Conway Symphony Orchestra brings professional concerts, exciting guest artists and high-quality music to the Central Arkansas community.

  • Led by musical maestro Israel Getzov ” concert paints a moving and picturesque likeness of nature by and performs the pastoral images the masterful German composer saw in the serene rivers, and a sunbathing Friedrich Nietzsche on the Austrian Alps—snow-capped mountains, the orchestra interprets the opus for the 21st century and displays the expert chops of guest vocalist Cao Jin of East China Normal University, performs arias by Mozart and Lehar.

The orchestra’s ability to weave multihued pictures through storytelling has made the Conway symphony orchestra community canter of entertainment.
