Lakeside without the resort.

Choctaw sits about five miles south of Clinton, off Highway 65 and east on Highway 330, right on the water. It is a rural lakeside community rather than a planned development — scattered cabins, homes and lake lots around the recreation area, marina and campground.

Reached on the Clinton run. House washing $330–$700, decks $300–$2,000, roofs $500–$2,500.

Undeveloped shoreline

Cove edges and ridgelines, not streets.

The setting here is wooded lakeside upland — cove edges, ridgelines, and a good deal of forest that has never been cleared. It feels far less built-up than the north-shore resort areas, and the shoreline and surrounding trees dominate rather than the buildings.

For anything standing in that, moisture is the constant. Cabins under continuous canopy near the water get very little direct sun on any elevation, and structures that sit unoccupied through the week or the season accumulate a full year of growth before anyone is there to see it.

Cabins and smaller structures also tend to be built of things that show it: timber, metal roofing, painted board. Each of those has its own ceiling — wood at 500 to 1,200 PSI, roofing low, painted surfaces soft washed — and using one setting across a whole cabin is how boards get furred and paint gets stripped.

What we do here

Every service, in Choctaw.

Everything runs at Choctaw, and cabins usually want roof, deck and siding together rather than one at a time.

Straight answers

Choctaw questions.

Do you work on cabins as well as houses?

Yes, and a lot of the work here is cabins. Smaller buildings still need the setting matched to each surface.

The place is empty most of the time. Does that matter?

No. Everything is exterior, so it can be done between visits.

Is the campground area covered too?

Yes. Property around the recreation area is normal work.
