A railroad town in the foothills.
Shirley is a small place of around 250 people northeast of Clinton, grown up around an old Missouri and North Arkansas Railroad depot. The lake is ten to fifteen miles away depending which arm you head for, so this is foothill country rather than shoreline.

The landscape around Shirley is transitional — wooded ridges and hollows broken up by pasture and small farms. It is more inland and more rural than the lakefront communities, but higher and more enclosed than the open Highway 65 corridor down at Clinton.
Housing runs to modest year-round homes: older houses, manufactured homes, smaller lots close to the highway and acreage beyond it. Very little of it is second-home or resort property, which means these are buildings people look at every day and notice when something changes.
The practical effect of the terrain is that shade is patchy and local. Two houses a quarter mile apart can be in completely different situations depending on which way the hollow runs, so what one neighbour needs is a poor guide to what the next one does.

Yes. Shirley sits between Clinton and Fairfield Bay, both of which are regular runs.

Usually which way the hollow faces. In this terrain shade is very local, and two nearby houses can be in quite different situations.
Do you do fence lines and barns?
Yes. Wood runs at 500 to 1,200 PSI, and metal outbuildings are a low-pressure job.
