Damascus is a small community on Highway 65 around twenty-four miles north of Conway, sitting near the Faulkner and Van Buren county line. This is the point where the road leaves the valley and the country turns into ridge and hollow.

The ground here sits substantially higher than Conway and breaks up into ridges, hollows and small fields. What you see from the road is forest, pasture and scattered houses rather than continuous development, and that pattern is the reason exterior surfaces behave differently a few miles further north than they do in town.
Homes are dispersed along the highway and the county roads rather than gathered into subdivisions — older frame and vinyl-sided ranches, modest brick, manufactured homes, and individual newer builds on multi-acre lots. Almost all of it is single-storey, which means roofs are wide and low and highly visible from the ground when they streak.
Because Damascus sits on the main route north, it is on the way to almost everything else — Clinton, the lake towns, Fairfield Bay. That is worth knowing practically: work here slots into a run that is already happening rather than needing a trip of its own.

No, it is directly on the route north. The trailer passes through on the way to Clinton and the lake.
