A very small town, very high up.
Leslie is around 375 people in barely three quarters of a square mile, sitting at roughly 1,017 feet in Searcy County. Narrow valleys, steep wooded hillsides, limestone country and thick hardwood forest — it is a proper mountain town rather than a foothill one.

Compact and historic
The downtown is the town.
Because the incorporated area is so small, Leslie is unusually concentrated — a compact historic centre with railroad-era heritage, and then acreage almost immediately beyond it. That means commercial frontage and residential property sit closer together than in most places, and the same care applies to both.
Older buildings dominate the centre, and the material rules apply exactly as they do anywhere with historic stock: painted timber and older masonry take low pressure and dwell, never a driveway setting. What is different here is how visible any one building is, because there are so few of them along the main street.
Out from the centre, the picture is steep wooded hillside with homes and modest cabins on it. At this elevation, in this much hardwood, shade is the default condition rather than the exception.

Only as part of a grouped visit. That is the honest answer — one small job at this distance does not work on its own, but it fits alongside other work in the area.

Usually not, but it is worth mentioning at the quote. Access on a hillside lot varies a lot.
