Discovering the Bridal Veil Falls of Heber Springs, AR

Bridal Veil Falls

If you’re looking for a fun and relaxing day trip, consider Heber Springs and all its hidden gems. If you’ve never visited this family friendly town in Central Arkansas, then we think the Bridal Veil Falls is a must see on your next weekend adventure.

The name of these waterfalls may be slightly deceiving as there’s nothing “veil like” about them. They’re also referred to as the Heber Waterfalls, but this is where you’ll find them folks; alongside AR-7 in Heber Springs, Arkansas!

The waterfalls are actually quite large with lots of big rocks to climb around on and explore. There’s not much of a swimming area, but if you’re looking to take a dip and cool off on a hot summer day, then you’ll want to head to the Heber Springs Pool which is just a few minutes down the road.

History

These falls have been a popular spot for locals and visitors alike for many years. The area surrounding the falls was once used as a campground and there are still remnants of the old campground today.

In fact, if you’re feeling adventurous, you can actually hike to the top of the falls! There’s a pretty steep incline, but the views from the top are totally worth it.

How to Get There

From downtown Heber Springs, head north on Main Street and continue over the bridge. Turn left onto Spring Avenue and immediately turn right onto Cove Road where you’ll find the entrance of the park. A small parking fee of $2 per car is required.

What to Be Prepared For

Bridal Veil Falls is a very popular spot, so be prepared for plenty of people. The park offers picnic tables, grills, and restrooms, but there’s no water or electricity so come prepared. This is also a great place to take your furry friends as the park is pet friendly.

If you’re looking for a beautiful and peaceful spot, the Heber Springs Waterfall will not disappoint. The surrounding landscape is gorgeous and if you’re willing to climb around a bit, you’ll have some great memories from your trip!

The Bridal Veil Falls area is also home to the Heber Springs Fish Hatchery which operates April 1st through September 15th each year. The Heber Springs Fish Hatchery offers a wide variety of freshwater fish and crawfish, along with plenty of information about the hatchery. Hours are limited, so be sure to check the schedule before visiting.

What to See

The falls are easily accessible and parking is free making them a popular spot for visitors and locals alike. Be sure to bring your camera as there are some great photo opportunities here, especially if you can time your visit for early morning or late evening when the light is just right.

What to Do

If you’re looking for a place to picnic, the Heber Springs Park is located right next to the falls and has plenty of benches and tables. You’ll also find a playground for the little ones, a campground and a boat launch here.

If you’re looking for a place to take a dip and cool off, the Heber Springs Pool is just a few minutes down the road.

Trails

There are a few nice hiking trails in the area that will lead you to some great overlooks of the falls. One such trail is the Goat Rock Trail which is about a mile long and takes about 30 minutes to hike.

If you’re looking for something a bit more strenuous, then the Cedar Glade Trail might be just what you’re looking for. This 3-mile round trip hike takes you up to another great location, Cedar Glade Vista. It can be quite muddy and slippery in these lower areas of the trail so wear shoes that won’t slip easily and choose your steps carefully.

Photo Tips

If you plan on capturing some amazing shots here (and we hope you do), then consider making a day of it. Head out early in the morning for some great light and to avoid other crowds. In the summer months, you can even cool off in Heber Springs Pool or retreat into one of their cozy little shops.
