Sandy Beach is considered to be one of the main beaches in Herber Springs, Arkansas. It is a public destination with long and spacious sand and swimming areas to cater large crowds. The beach is a perfect getaway for tourists, especially families who are up for some sand fun and a view of the picturesque setting sun.
The beach is accessible either by car or by boat. Visitors in cars may avail the parking areas which surround the beach while nearby ramps are available with no charge for access for visitors’ boats.
The clear, blue waters of the beach are perfect to go for a dip and to get some snap shots. Swimming areas are sectioned for swimmers of all ages. The beach is also a perfect place to get a tan on and for little kids to do some sand play.
A volleyball area is situated beside the beach and is open for public use. Picnics may be done in the premises. Visitors may bring in food or have a cook out under the pavilion.
Trees are scattered around the area providing shade for visitors wanting to cool down from the heat of the sun.
Bathroom areas are positioned around the beach’s vicinity that can be easily accessed by the visitors.
Sandy Beach is the location for Arkansas’ yearly activities such as the World Championship Cardboard Boat Race and the Fireworks Extravaganza. The World Championship Cardboard Boat race is an open event to all comers. Participants ride on cardboard boats and try to defy the natural laws of float and race on the waters of Greers Ferry Lake. The winner will compete in the Annual America’s International Cardboard Cup Challenge. The Fireworks Extravaganza, on the other hand, is a 4th of July free event which is known as one of the larger displays in the state for its full day of activities and festivities and its marvelous fireworks display..
