I’ve always wanted to go on a solo trip and just get lost in a city to discover all its hidden gems. I had finally had an opportunity to get time off work and I decided to go to Conway, Arkansas. As I was looking for free attractions on TripAdvisor (as you would these days), I stumbled upon a small gallery in the heart of the University of Central Arkansas. This caught my attention, so I decided to make a trip to the Baum Gallery of Fine Arts.
I arrived at the UCA and searched for the McCastlain Hall where the Baum Gallery of Fine Arts is located. At first, I was taken aback by the size of the campus. Thankfully, people were quite helpful and accommodating that I easily found the gallery.
The entrance fee is free of charge including exhibits and events. The gallery was quite small with four spaces. However, seasonal exhibits and events frequent the gallery so there is always something new and fresh to see. There were various kinds of artworks from photos to paintings to sculptures to ceramics, among others. It was amazing to see so many kinds of medium being exhibited in one place. I liked that it had both contemporary and historical pieces. What made it even more interesting was that many of the works exhibited were made by their students, professors or Arkansas artists. I would love to go back again for the special exhibits when I’m in town.
The Baum Gallery of Fine Arts is located in McCastlain Hall of UCA at 201 Donaghey Avenue, Conway, Arkansas.
