Sugarloaf Mountain is one of the top attractions in Fairfield Bay. With towering cliffs and a beautiful waterfall, it’s definitely worth a visit. There are plenty of hiking trails to choose from, so you can make the hike as easy or challenging as you want. And if you’re looking for a more relaxed experience, there’s even a gazebo with some benches, perfect for lunch or just sitting and taking in the scenery.

Where It Is Located

Sugarloaf Mountain is located in Fairfield Bay, which is in northern Arkansas. You can find it in the middle of Greers Ferry Lake, Sugar Loaf Mountain Island which stands at about 1000 feet tall. If you’re coming from Little Rock, it will take about an hour and a half to get there.

What You Can See There

At the top of Sugarloaf Mountain, there’s an overlook that provides some great views of Fairfield Bay. This is also where you’ll find the waterfall. If you follow the creek behind it, you’ll be able to find some great spots for wading or catching minnows. Just remember to stay out of the water during heavy rains!

The city’s visitors center is also located at the top of Sugarloaf Mountain. It’s a great place to get more information on what else there is to do in Fairfield Bay, and they’ll even be able to help you plan out your trip.

Hiking Trails

The hike to the top of Sugarloaf Mountain is about 1/2-mile one way, but there are some other trails that are longer or shorter if you want to make it a little bit easier or more difficult. The trailhead starts at 715 Dixieland Rd. in Fairfield Bay, and it’s open from sunrise to sunset.

Be sure to wear sturdy shoes and bring plenty of water, especially during the summer months. There are also a few places along the way where you can rest if you need a break. You can also bring a camera and some binoculars, as there are lots of great things to see along the way.

Where to Stop for a Break

If you’re looking for a place to stop after your hike, be sure to check out the Fairfield Art Company’s gallery downstairs from the visitor’s center. They have many affordable gifts and art pieces, and it’s definitely worth a visit. They’re open from 10am to 5pm Monday through Saturday.

If you’re looking for a more relaxed atmosphere, you can head to the Sugarloaf Mountain Club for a drink. They’re located at 3900 Fairfield Road in Fairfield Bay and they’re open from 4pm until 10pm Monday through Saturday and 12pm until 6 pm on Sundays.

If you’d like to see some other attractions in the area, be sure to stop by the Greers Ferry Lake Area Chamber of Commerce. They’re located at 1003 N. Arkansas Ave in Heber Springs and they’re open from 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday and 10am to 2pm on Saturday.

In addition to Sugarloaf Mountain, there’s plenty more to do in Fairfield Bay. It’s a great place to visit for those who love the outdoors, as it’s surrounded by lakes and hiking trails. And if you bring your boat, you’ll also be able to hit up some of the fishing spots here as well!
